Identifying which GPOs are applied to a computer can help diagnose and resolve configuration issues. This guide covers three essential commands to use on the computer in question.

Essential Commands

1. Gpupdate /force

The most well-known command, Gpupdate /force, forces the application of GPOs on the computer and for the user.

2. Gpresult /R

Another popular command, Gpresult /R, displays the names of the GPOs that are applied (or filtered) on the computer and for the user.

3. RSOP.msc

This command opens the Resultant Set of Policy (RSoP) in a graphical format (MMC console), showing the details of the applied GPOs and their corresponding names.

Usage Notes

  • For all three commands, you do not need to be a domain admin, but you need to have admin rights on the local computer for some commands.
